Line Item V2
Line Item v2 UI Guide
The following guide is a step-by-step tutorial explaining how to set up a new line item in the UI
A Line Item is the workhorse of the Buzz system. It corresponds to a given buying activity, usually defined by a set of targeting criteria.
Line item modal
Starting a new line item requires only a certain number of fields to begin.
- To create a new line item, click “New Line Item” on the line items page or go to the universal ‘create’ button and select ‘line item’ from the drop down. After selecting a modal will appear asking for the following information:
- Enter the advertiser & campaign associated to your line item
- Enter a line-item name and choose its type of either banner, video, or native. Note: This cannot be changed once chosen
- Once completed, select “Create & Continue” if you’d like to complete the set up for that specific line item. If you wish to complete the line item later, you can create & close’ to finish later. Additionally, if you select “Create & Start Another”, you can save the initial line item and begin creating a new one.
After you proceed from the create line-item modal, you will land on the general tab of the line item, in its inactive state. To begin, proceed with filling out the essential settings.
The name of the line item will show in the header along with its ID number. Additionally, you can see the line item type and its status.
To edit the name of the line item, feel free to click on the name. Select the check once you are ready to save it. To favorite the line item, click the star next to the line-item name.
Indicate the start date and end date the line item is intended to begin. Select the budget type by choosing either spend, impression or spend with vendor fees. Enter the budget of the Line Item. Note: the budget of an individual Line Item cannot exceed the Campaign budget. Select bidding strategy from the dropdown. Our users have the option of out-of-the box bidding strategies or custom bidding strategy. For more information on bidding, refer here. Once complete, click create & continue to proceed to flights below.
Line-item flights allow for granular control over the timing of line-item delivery. Flights can strictly control delivery time frames and can each have their own budget. Read more about how to set up flights here.
When trafficking a Campaign and/or Line Item, you have the option of setting a Frequency Cap to restrict the number of times a particular ad will be shown to a particular user. Frequency is typically determined by the ID found in the bid request which corresponds to the cookie ID on web traffic, and the Device ID on mobile in-app traffic. We also have additional ID types you can frequency cap on. Read more on how to set up frequency caps here.
Vendor Fees in the platform are a way to optionally include serving costs associated with third-party vendors into media spend and reporting. You can also create custom Vendor Fees to withhold your own fee (further details can be found here). Vendor Fees can be applied at the campaign or line item level and allow clients to set a budget at the respective level that includes both media spend and Vendor Fees. Read more on how to set up vendor fees here.
Events are used to track conversions, installs, or other key activities. Read more on how to set up events here.
On a campaign or line item, you can set a Revenue value, which can be used to report on the revenue you have made from running a given campaign. You can in turn calculate profit margin by subtracting Spend from Revenue. Important to note: adding this field does not impact bidding.
SKAdNetwork is an attribution framework designed for mobile app install attribution on iOS 14 and future versions.
Ghost Bidding is an implementation of a testing framework that allows for customers to calculate the incremental impact of their media buys by creating a “ghost bid” that is not sent to the exchange. On the line item level, you can choose a Ghost Bidding User ID Type to bucket users for ghost bidding. Two types are available: Standard or IP address.
The targeting tab allows you to define your target audience so that your ad gets displayed to the right audience.
Buzz allows you to create lists of criteria for Bid Modifiers and Delivery Modifiers according to various targeting modules and keys. Bid Modifier terms use targeting keys to adjust the bid price. Delivery Modifier allocates delivery weight to specific inventory in real time based on the set rules. To learn more about Bid Modifiers read here. To learn more about delivery modifiers read here.
Creative association allows you to associate creatives to your line item. To add a creative, select “creative association” from the list and click “add creative associations”.
Once selected, the list will be populated by the creatives associated to your campaign. Choose which creatives you would like to associate and click “Add Selected” to add to the line item.
The summary tab will display all information you have inputted during set up. This includes your essential settings, frequency cap, targeting, modifiers, associated creatives, and status of the line item. If you wish to change a setting, creative or enable the line item, you can click that element and be directed back to its page.
The analytics tab will show two charts, your real time stats and bid decision flow graphs. These charts will display information about your line item so that you can help understand its performance. Note: We’ve added a new chart called spend! For more information on each, see below.
